Sooke Oceanside Brewing (S.O.B.) was established in 2015 in a 1,200 square foot space beside the Shell gas station just outside of Sooke. As seen on their website: “S.O.B. was born out of a desire to bring the love of craft beer to our west coast community of Sooke, B.C. The brewery was founded in 2015 by owner Ryan Orr and has since been a long standing, award winning labour of love. Tugwell Creek Honey Farm and Meadery is British Columbia’s first Meadery. Mead Maker and Master Beekeeper Robert Liptrot has 43 years of beekeeping and 25 years of Mead making experience. From their website: “Discover the fascinating history of Mead — the world’s first fermented beverage. Mead (Honey Wine) is the oldest art of fermentation. Consumed by all, down through the ages: from kings to peasants, mead has gained a reputation as a giver of life, wisdom, courage and strength. Sheringham Distillery, which made international headlines last year when it’s Seaside Gin was named the best contemporary gin at the 2019 World Gin Awards. Sheringham describes their business as “….using time-honoured distilling methods and BC grown grains to achieve our sustainable and traditional approach to the productions of our spirits….. We are proudly committed to localism, quality and sustainability.” Tours and Tasting are currently on hold due to the pandemic. Sooke Brewing, which opened its doors in the late fall of 2017, has a shelf full of awards and plenty of respect from the industry. The brewery won four awards for its beer, the Rookie of the Year award and an award for Best Tasting Room at the annual B.C. Beer Awards. As their website states, they have stayed “TRUE TO OUR ROOTS. The five owners have multi-generations in Sooke BC, and this connection to the local area is linked to everything we do. We aim to brew beers that can be enjoyed both by those new to craft brewing, as well as the most experienced connoisseurs. Bad Dog Brewing Company is a small micro brewery in the rural back roads of Sooke, BC. Established in 2017, the brewery offers their products in single tall cans, 4 packs, kegs, growler fills and tasting flights. You can also enjoy a cold beer in their picnic area. Bad Dog brewery tours and samples are available during our open hours. Packaged snacks and branded merchandise is also available at the brewery.
